«Стадіони війни» — це документальний дослідницький проєкт про українські футбольні стадіони, пошкоджені або зруйновані внаслідок російського вторгнення.
"STADIUMS OF WAR" is a documentary research project about Ukrainian football stadiums damaged or destroyed as a result of the Russian invasion.
У центрі проєкту — стадіон як конкретне місце зі своєю історією, функцією та зв'язком із містом і його мешканцями. Дослідження охоплює 38 стадіонів у різних регіонах України — від великих міських арен до невеликих спортивних споруд. Для кожного об'єкта фіксуються його історія, стан до повномасштабної війни, характер і масштаби пошкоджень та зміни після 24 лютого 2022 року.
At the heart of the project is the stadium as a specific place with its own history, function, and connection to the city and its people. The research covers 38 stadiums across different regions of Ukraine — from major city arenas to smaller sports grounds. For each site, the project documents its history, condition before the full-scale war, the nature and extent of the damage, and the changes that have taken place since 24 February 2022.
Проєкт поєднує фотографії різних періодів і польові дослідження. Важливою його частиною є безпосередня фіксація місць — відвідування стадіонів, фотографування, збір матеріалів та порівняння їхнього стану в різні періоди.
The project combines photographs from different periods with field research. An important part of the work is the direct documentation of these places — visiting stadiums, photographing them, collecting materials, and comparing their condition at different points in time.
Це не лише історія зруйнованих спортивних споруд. Через стадіони проєкт документує зміни українських міст і громад під час війни — те, що було частиною повсякденного життя, що було знищене чи пошкоджене, а що продовжує існувати та відновлюватися.
This is not only a story of damaged and destroyed sports facilities. Through stadiums, the project documents changes in Ukrainian cities and communities during the war — what was once part of everyday life, what was destroyed or damaged, and what continues to exist and be rebuilt.
Понад 20 років я подорожую футбольними місцями, документую їхню історію та сьогодення й досліджую культуру, що формується навколо них. Мої матеріали публікували Extra Time Mag, Staantribune, Glory Magazine та інші видання про футбольну культуру. For more than 20 years, I have travelled to football grounds, documenting their history and present day while exploring the culture that surrounds them. My work has been published by Extra Time Mag, Staantribune, Glory Magazine and other football culture publications.
Повномасштабна війна змінила спосіб, у який я дивлюся на ці місця. Стадіони, які я багато років фотографував як частину футбольного життя, стали свідками руйнувань і змін цілих міст. Саме це стало поштовхом системно зафіксувати їхні історії, стан і зміни — поки це ще можливо. The full-scale war changed the way I look at these places. Stadiums that I had photographed for many years as part of football life became witnesses to the destruction and transformation of entire cities. This became the reason to systematically document their stories, condition and changes — while it is still possible.
